TWHS Robotics is FRC team 9418, the Pastabots.
We have qualified for the State Championship every year since 2020 (the program was established in 2018), making us one of the most competitive teams in our region.
Students are required to be enrolled in a Robotics class in order to be on the TWHS FRC Robotics Team.
Robotics is a UIL event (like athletics or band), so we do have to follow UIL eligibility rules.
Students must take the required prerequisite courses in order to be considered for enrollment in a Robotics class (advanced math and science courses throughout high school).
There are a limited number of spots available in the program.
The Robotics program has significant co-curricular requirements outside of the school day, which include: regular after school meetings, weekend events, and overnight travel.
The Robotics program comes with required fees associated with enrollment and travel ($1500 for the 2024 - 2025 school year, but this is subject to change in the future).
Robotics specialties include: design (CAD), mechanical (build), electrical, programming (students interested in programming are encouraged to also enroll in the Computer Science courses offered at TWHS), community outreach, and media/marketing. All students on the team will specialize in at least one area.
